...AND ADAM FELL

Adam and eve
On a Friday afternoon
Sought to play hide and seek.

Adam where are you?
Where are you?
Adam, Adam!-
Here I am! She heard
From the tree of knowledge
Of good and evil.

She sought to find out
Just to find out it was not Adam
You are not Adam, said she
Yes I am not said the serpent.
You look tired from hiding and seeking

Have you considered these fruits edible yet?
Yes she replied,
But Father has asked not to touch it
And I do not know why here
I stand talking to you.
Neither eat we of it
But of the other fruits we shall
Freely eat thereof.
For the day we shall taste of it,
We shall surely die!

Adam on the other hand,
Calling for Eve…
Eve! Eve!
Bone of my bones-
Where are you?
Here, here; she responded.

What are you doing there?
Conversation… she retorted.
What! With who?
He asked as he ran
Discerning the location of
The forbidden tree.

So as I was saying
The day you shall eat of it,
You shall not surely die.
The serpent lured her.
Try it, just a bite of it.
Pluck it, it wouldn’t bite you
But Father said… came in Eve
-No, No, No!
Do not! Do not! - yelled Adam.

But it was too late
Eve reached unto one
Adam running faster fell,
He tripped and fell
Adam fell
He fell, a great fall
And Eve bit,
She bit a great bite.

And Adam cried!
And Eve hailed-it tastes good!
You need to taste to know
If it is true Adam.
Now I know, you need to know too-
See I am still alive!!
It is true-we shall not surely die
From tasting of this fruit.
But Father said…
Yes, but here I am right beside you,
Adam’s face on the ground
Cried more with pain
I fell, I fell, I fell!
Oh, I have fallen!

But Adam fell that man may live,
 And men may live
To know good and evil
That from their good,
They may have joy.
